They are among 2,045 officers promoted to various ranks in the service.
Uzoma, represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Finance, Administration and Technical Services, Alhaji Rilwan Musa, said that 844 other officers were also upgraded after obtaining relevant degrees.
She said that the promotion was in recognition of the officers' hard work, and urged them to be more proactive in curbing current security challenges in the country.
The Comptroller-General recalled that the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board in August approved the promotion of the 2,045 officers to various ranks.
She said that 59 degree holders were upgraded, while 785 were upgraded from Ordinary National Diploma (OND) to Higher National Diploma (HND) status.
``The massive promotions are part of the efforts of management to reward hard working officers and motivate them to do more.
``This promotion, therefore, is a call to more serious action and performance on the part of all officers and men of the immigration service in view of the current security challenges Nigeria is facing,’’ she said.
She stressed the need for officers promoted to be disciplined and be exemplary in the conducts of their duties.
Uzoma promised the prompt payment of all entitlements due to promoted and upgraded officers.
Responding on behalf of the officers, Mr Abubakar Barda commended the management of the NIS for the massive promotion of officers.
He said the promotion was an improvement on previous exercises when only a few people benefited.
``Before now, officers who got promoted had to wait for between one year and 15 months before their salaries and allowances were upgraded.
``I wish to urge my colleagues and those, who have been promoted to be focused and be good supervisors in your commands.''
Barda urged the officers from various commands to work with relevant security agencies in addressing security challenges in the country.
