The comptroller made the call at the Joint Security Meeting held at the Customs Conference room at Seme.
He said the resurgence of multiple roadblocks had led to the narrowing of the road to a single lane at some points on the busy road that links Nigeria to other ECOWAS countries.
Salleh urged the security agents at the meeting to find a solution to the problem as soon as possible.
“The resurgence of so many roadblocks on Lagos-Seme highway is very alarming and it needs to be addressed as soon as
“Some security agents even go as far as blocking one lane of the road because of their checkpoints and this always results to traffic holdup.
“I implore all security agents at this meeting to resolve these issues as quickly as possible”, Saleh said.
The comptroller also drew attention to the poor state of the Seme-Lagos highway and the constraints associated with the Seme/Krake border reconstruction project.
He said the situation posed a great security and economic challenge to the nation.
“The Seme-Lagos expressway is in a deplorable state.
“Something must be done about this road and a swift action must be taken as soon as possible for the safety of those who ply the road.
“A letter should be written to the appropriate quarters to that effect, so that necessary steps can be taken as soon as possible”, the comptroller further stated.
Salleh pleaded with all the security agents to be more alert during this Eid-El-Kabir festive period.
“I implore security agents to be more security conscious during this Sallah period as some hoodlums would want to misbehave”, he noted.
Also speaking, the Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, Badagry, Mr Su Galadunsi, warned motorists that driving against traffic was a serious problem that must be resolved.
“Despite the newly enacted traffic law by the Lagos State Government, you still see many people breaking this law by driving against traffic.
“This leads to traffic congestion and accidents. We have put in various measures to ensure that offenders are caught and brought to book”, Galadunsi said.
In reference to the state of the road, the Unit Commander noted that apart from the flood and other factors that have made the road bad, people have also contributed to the state of the road.
He urged Okada riders not to ply the expressway and promised that violators would have their motorcycles impounded by the commission.
