NATCOMS Urges Service Providers to Improve Service During Yuletide

Chief Deolu Ogunbanjo, NATCOMS President, made the plea on Tuesday in Lagos during an interview.

He said that the operators should be aware of the normal higher volume of traffic on their networks during these periods.

Ogunbanjo said that upgrading their systems would enable subscribers to get value for their money made on calls and data services.

He promised that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) would review the sanctions imposed on them if they improved on their services during the festivities.

“Operators should move from consumer service delivery to consumer satisfaction. Though, we have not got there, but perhaps we will still get there.

“This is the time we should be asking for freebies after subscribers have patronised their services from January till December.

“The only benefit from the operators is for them to give subscribers better quality of service.

“We are fully in support of the decision of the NCC banning  promotions and lotteries,” Ogunbanjo said.

He said that the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) should be used to intervene in the provision of infrastructure to improve service delivery in the sector.

“Telecommunications sector is one of the highest producers of jobs in Nigeria today, therefore the Federal Government should invest in the provision of infrastructure for the sector,” he said.
