Policemen in Edo to undergo compulsory eye test -- Commissioner

Alhaji Balogun Olayinka, the Commissioner of Police in the state said this in Benin when he received officials of the state chapter of the Nigeria Optometry Association.

He described the eye as the most potent part of the body, saying the free eye test and treatment would be conducted in partnership with the association.

The commissioner urged the association to develop programmes to educate the people on the need for proper eye care, and decried the lukewarm attitude of people toward the care of the eye.

Olayinka assured the association of  support, especially in apprehending quacks in the optical profession.

Earlier, Dr Micheal Nwoko, the President of the chapter said that the association had set up a committee to work with the police to apprehend quacks damaging the image of  the profession
