He told reporters in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday that the government should be prepared to step on toes in order to get the policy implemented successfully.
Oluwadare, a Sociology lecturer at the Ekiti State University, commended the government for finding lasting solutions to menace of filth in the state.
``However, a lot more still needed to be evolved to earn desired results,’’ he said.
He argued that the waste problems facing many urban cities and local towns were either due to lack of appropriate policies or the political will to implement them, if available.
He said that there was no data to ascertain the actual volume of waste being generated, pointing out that such data would enhance proper planning for evacuation of waste periodically.
``Generating data is necessary to determine the number of disposal trucks, bins and other facilities needed for waste management in all local governments and wards.’’
He said that an effective waste disposal management, anywhere in the country, should involve development of an integrated waste management programme.
``It must also entails design and supervision of sanitary landfill sites operations.’’
