The NFF conviction came in the wake of the team's 11-0 whip lash of the hosts on Tuesday and as they get set to slug it out with Colombia on Saturday in Baku a top official of the Football House has endorsed the coach Peter Dedevbo tutored lasses to see off the South American amazons and easily progress to the knock out stages.
NFF's Director of Competitions, Dr Mohammed Sanusi in a chat with Goal.com expressed gratitude with the performance of the country's representatives and has challenged them to keep the fire burning when they clash with Colombia on September 29th.
He cautioned them against complacency and seeking personal glories but charged them to be dutiful, resilient and be resolute as they set their sights on the final.
"The NFF is impressed with their performance and they have delighted us with their thrilling outing. We will encourage them to continue to make Nigerians happy and not get carried away at all as they progress further in the competition.
"The NFF has no doubt that the club will be in the final but we still have to take our games as they come so that we don't end up disappointing Nigerians," Dr Sanusi told reporters.
It is the third edition of the competition that debuted in 2008 in New Zealand and Nigeria has featured in all three. In 2008 with inspirational Ebere Orji, Desire Oparanozie and others in that squad Flamingoes were eliminated in the group stage after losing one match( 0-1 to England), drawing one (2-2 against Brazil) and winning one( versus South Korea 2-1).
