Flood Displaces13,000, Submerges 50 Houses in Benue LG

 

Sule, a member of Benue House of Assembly representing Agatu Constituency, told newsmen in Makurdi that affected villages include Obagaji,Oweto, Ologba, Okpacheni, Ekwo, Obisu, Ogbobe, Akiba, Ogan, Olegadapa, Adeka, Ichogolugu and  Itugolugu.

He said that some of the affected people had been taking refuge under trees, churches, schools and in uncompleted buildings.

He stated that the flood also swept away a variety of crops, livestock, bridges and culverts, stressing that it had caused untold hardship to the people.

He appealed to the state and national emergency management agencies, corporate bodies and well-meaning individuals to come to the aid of the Agatu people so as to ameliorate their sufferings.

He also solicited for medical facilities and foodstuffs for victims.
