Dr Sam Amadi, the Chairman of the Commission, told newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday that there was no crisis in the sector.
He said it was normal to, sometimes, experience slight increase or decrease in power generation.
Amadi explained that last week there was little power fluctuation in the power generation due to a minor maintenance at Geregu Power Station.
``This was short-lived and generation was immediately restored to normal 4,000mw.
``This is a normal occurrence in any power network around the world and power plants need to be maintained in order to continue to function effectively,’’ he said.
Amadi said that the nation had, for sometime, witnessed both power and system stability which had led to improvement in the power generation.
He attributed this to many reforms the sector had recorded since the coming of the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He said that the Federal Government had made adequate plans to check the perennial power shortage experienced during the dry season due to the decrease in the volume of water in dams.
Amadi said that there were many independent power plants ready to evacuate power generated from their power plants to the national grid for distribution.
``This would check power shortages witnessed in the country during the dry season,’’ he said.
He expressed happiness with the current power sector tariff, adding that it would attract both foreign and local investors to the sector.
Amadi assured electricity consumers that the commission would charge lower tariffs per unit of electricity consumed once power generation was increased to 9,000mw.
