Maj. Michaels Etete, the Spokesman of the 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, told newsmen on Tuesday that the illegal refining point was discovered on Sept. 9.
Etete said that the filling station, located on Eleme Road, also illegally stored diesel.
He said that two suspects had been arrested, while a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol found in the premises, was destroyed by the taskforce.
``The taskforce has handed over the suspects to the police, while efforts are on to arrest the owner of the petrol station
``This tells you how far people can go to commit crime. If this can be done within the city, you can only imagine what will be happening elsewhere,’’ he said.
Etete said that the JTF would continue to show commitment in the fight against oil crimes in the Niger Delta.
