UK-Based Firm to Mark Sunny Ade's 35 Years as King of Juju Music

 

In an interview in London, Alabi said the events would take place in London, Washington, Lagos and Ibadan.

He said the decision to organise the event was in recognition of Ade's contribution to the growth and development of music industry in Nigeria.

He said the King of Music, popularly called KSA, has been a 'consistent'  good ambassador of Nigerian culture and industry especially on the global music stage.

Alabi explained that activities to mark the event would include concerts, lectures and awards.

"KSA is Nigeria"s brand in the international entertainment scene, hence the imperativeness to celebrate his creativity, excellence, durability and global acceptability as a beacon to our young, rising stars in the entertainment industry," Alabi said.

He said the London event would be in collaboration with the Nigeria High Commission in the UK.

Ade was crowned King of Juju Music on April 23, 1977 after topping a poll conducted by the defunct Entertainer Magazine published. by the Sketch Publishing Company Limited.
