PTML Customs Generate N71.2bn in 2012

Mr Steve Okonmah, the Public Relations Officer of the command, told newsmen in Lagos that the revenue increased by 39 per cent.

He said that the sum of N43.8 billion went into the Federation Account while N27.4 billion was paid into the Non- Federation Account.

According to Okonmah, 18 seizures were made by the command.

He said that the breakdown of seizures was eight 40ft containers; seven 20ft containers; and three vehicles were seized.

Okonmah said that the command had handed over two of the containers laden with fake drugs to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

He said that Mr Zakari Jibrin, the Area Controller of the command, had promised an improvement in revenue collection and anti-smuggling drive.

Okonmah said that Jibrin had advised the fraudulent importers to steer clear of the command.
