In a telephone interview with ionigeria.com, the Speaker’s Special Assistant on Media & Public Affairs, Piriye Kiyaramo revealed that the 78 years old woman was set free around 10 P.M. on Monday
“Her abductors handed her over to family members near Sagbama town in Sagbama local government area of the state at about 10pm on Monday, January 21, 2013, without any ransom”.
According to Kiyaramo, “While narrating her ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers, Grandma Okunwa Benson, said she was praying throughout the period she was in the hands of her abductors, informing that she was blind folded after she was abducted and taken into the speedboat”.
Recall that the speaker’s mother was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in her residence at about 12. 30. A.M. at Korokorosei, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.
The gunmen, who came in two speed boats, had shot sporadically into the air to scare away people, before taking her away.
