Mr Tony Usidamen, Head of Corporate Communications of the airline, made this known in Lagos, in a telephone interview.
Usidamen said the airline had outlined steps for safe and smooth return to operations.
“Following the lifting of the suspension on our operations by the Federal Government, the airline commenced a rigorous process of recertification by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
“This is a standard safety measure taken by the authorities to ensure that all the aircraft in our fleet are fully serviceable, and we have been cooperating fully in the exercise.
“Of the five aircraft in our fleet, two are currently on ground at the domestic terminal- ready to fly any time- while three are undergoing scheduled C-Checks in Istanbul, Turkey, and Miami, Florida".
He noted that the airline has also organised an independent inspection of all its aircraft by Aircraft Leasing and Management--a leading aviation consulting company based in the United Kingdom.
He disclosed that the airline has signed a five-year contract with a Canadian firm, FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd., for its flagship automated information reporting system (AFIRS) 228 at an estimated one million U.S dollars (about N157 million).
“The contract requires FLYHT to install the AFIRS 228 on all our aircraft, to provide real-time flight data monitoring and to assist in achieving maintenance and operational efficiencies.
“Refresher courses and recurrent training for all staff have been completed. All our pilots have gone through Simulator Training, Crew Resource Management (CRM), Familiarization and Touch and Go Flights Training,’’ he said.
Usidamen said the airline was committed to completing all audit requirements for listing in the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registry by 2013.
Dana Air has not been flying since one of its domestic flights crashed near the Lagos Airport on June 3, killing all 153 passengers and crew on board.
The crash, which occured in a residential area, also led to the death of some people on the ground.
