Royal Hoopers are the defending champions of the ongoing Annual DSTV Premier League Final Eight play-offs at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
The winner of the tournament will represent Nigeria in the FIBA Africa Champions’ Cup for men later in the year.
The Hoopers on Monday beat Niger Potters 81-50 in their opening game. The team manager said the team was aware of the competition from the other seven teams in the tournament.
He said the Hoopers were determined to win all their matches and would take advantage of their chances.
``No team scares us. Like I said, we have put together a team that matches any other team strength for strength, skill for skill, but no team scares us. Every team that has come to this championship is prepared to play, like we saw yesterday.
“Every team believes that it can win, but I think that if we go out there, we will do our best; we will fight very hard for every game; we don’t want to drop any game; we don’t want to lose any game; we don’t want to leave anything to chance and we believe that we can come out successful in this championship.’’
Uzaka said Hoopers’ first game against Niger Potters, though tough, was a good start, adding: ``We thank God for our first victory in this tournament. We believe and hope that we will build on this and go ahead to win other matches.
“On the court, we are very prepared. We have done our best and have put together a team that can match any other team in Nigeria and we are quite prepared to defend the title.’’
The DSTV Premier League Final Eight ends on July 28.
