Other teams in the same group with Nigeria and Zambia are Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
The draw was held at Durban’s International Conference Centre at a very impressive ceremony witnessed by many football dignitaries.
The dignitaries included FIFA President Sepp Blatter and CAF President Issa Hayatou, as well as representatives of all the 16 participating teams.
Hosts South Africa were drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, Angola and new entrants Cape Verde.
The draw also had four-time champions Ghana being drawn in Group B with DR Congo, Niger Republic and Mali.
The competition’s Group D has 2012 runners-up Cote D’Ivoire, Togo, 1990 winners Algeria and 2004 winners Tunisia.
The competition, which is the 29th edition, will hold from Jan. 19 to Feb. 10, 2013.
Already, hosts Bafana Bafana are scheduled to face Cape Verde in the opening match on Jan. 19
