Ogunbote told newsmen in an interview that so far, they had played three matches, losing one, drawing one and winning one on the home soil.
According to him, they lost 0-2 at home to Esperance of Tunisia, drew goalless with Etoile Du Sahel in Tunis and defeated Aso Chief 2-0 at home.
Ogunbote said the club would continue to work hard in the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) while also striving to keep the country’s flag flying at the continental level.
He said that their next match would be on Sept. 2, against Esperance of Tunisia in Tunis, adding that it had been difficult playing in both the CAF Champions and the premier league.
``We still have some matches to play in the NPL and we also want to finish within the top four.
He noted, however, that the league matches had been helping them to prepare for the continental matches, saying ``a lot is expected from us as a team, at both the NPL and CAF champions league matches’’.
He urged Nigerians to continue to support the club to enable it go far in both competitions.
``We need the support of all Nigerians and football enthusiasts in order to keep the flag flying,'' he said.
The Sunshine Stars are currently seventh on the NPL table with 53 points.
