Power Generation Reaches 4,308 MW, Says Ministry

Mr Cdon Adinuba, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Power, disclosed this in an interview on Wednesday.

Adinuba said that the “good news” was that the power generation would continue to rise due to improved transmission infrastructure.

He said that the transmission system collapsed in August when power generation rose to 3,800 mw for the first time due to weak infrastructure.

Adinuba said that the Nigerian Gas Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), had sustained gas supply to the various power stations.

He said that power generation would increase to 112.5 mw by Aug. 31 when the Omotosho 112.5mw power plant would start working.

The special adviser said that about 200 mw would soon be added to the national grid from the Delta Power Plant in Ughelli.

He said that other plants which would soon be completed included the 112.5MW Ihonvbe power plant on the outskirts of Benin in Edo and the 112.5mw Geregu plant in Kogi.

Adinuba said that these achievements were due to the commitment and patriotism of workers in the ministry.
